Akif Alizadeh: ANAS will no longer allocate funds to its sub-institutions

He said that competitive academic programs would be established and financed from the budget and this means that if programs cover urgent problems they will be financed from the funds allocated for the continuation of scientific activities.

“This will encourage scientists to work. Funding competitive academic programs serves increasing the interest of young people in science. Young peoples’ participation in this competition is important. These programs will open up opportunities for young people, so they will be provided with AZN 1200, while this figure was previously AZN 200. ANAS plans to hold regular competitions. It will let young people to publish their articles in magazines. They can also publish their articles in scientific journals with famous reference index,” he said.

Alizadeh also spoke about the measures to be taken to improve the social conditions of young researchers.

“The allocation of new apartments for them and the organization of their recreation are in our spotlight. If you remember Baku – Art City was established for artists. We have already asked the President for the establishment of “Science City” for ANAS members and young researches. The aim is to improve the social conditions of young researches,” he said.


He said the problem of creating a master’s degree in composition of ANAS has already been solved: “47 specialties have defined in this regard. The problem related to master’s degree in ANAS is different from the one that exists in other universities. Because there is no need to crease a master’s degree similar to ours. For ANAS it is important that undergraduates in a master’s degree to deepen their knowledge of ancient languages and study the ancient Armenian, Greek and dead languages”.
