During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Salim expressed his satisfaction with the high level of interreligious and interfaith relations in Azerbaijan, the committee told APA.

He emphasized the significance of the joint fight and exchange of experience against extremist groups in the modern-day world that sees an intensifying tendency toward radicalism.

Gurbanli extended gratitude to the government of Saudi Arabia for the successful organization of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage as well as for backing Azerbaijan’s just position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The committee chairman said radical and extremist groups have nothing to do with Islam, adding that Azerbaijan citizens are the least among those that have joined such groups, unlike other Muslim countries.

M.Gurbanli noted that increasing spiritual enlightenment, preventing revenues of radical groups and taking drastic legal and administrative actions against them are primary elements of counter-radicalism.

The sides also discussed prospects of mutual cooperation and joint projects.
