Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. “I do not claim that everything is perfect in Azerbaijan or any other country of the world. But I have not seen any antagonistic relations among religious communities in Azerbaijan,” Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Gabriella Battaini Dragoni said at a press conference dedicated to the meeting the meeting on “Intercultural dialogue: interaction between culture and religion” within the framework of the 2014 Council of Europe exchange on the religious dimension of intercultural dialogue organized in Baku, APA reports. He noted that Azerbaijan is located between the South and the North and the East and the West, so religious diversity is an integral part of society.

“Unluckily, in other parts of Europe, intolerance, Islamophobia, and xenophobia are gradually becoming commonplace. Such cases emerged following the economic crisis. We’re not thinking over short-term goals, but a long-term way with the goals we’ve already set. Now all eyes are on spiritual leaders. They must convey right messages and preach tolerance. We are going to carry out this gradually,” the Deputy Secretary General said.
