Azerbaijan and the European Union signed the readmission agreement in Brussels on February 28. The visa facilitation agreement was signed between Azerbaijan and the EU in Vilnius on November 29, 2013.

Internal procedures regarding the agreements have already been completed. Great Britain, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Denmark didn’t sign the readmission agreement.

According to the new rules, visas will be issued within 10 days, in urgent cases within 2 days. Visa fee will be € 35 for the Azerbaijani citizens, the number of required documents will be reduced for some categories of the population, including close relatives, members of official delegations, students, teachers, businessmen, academics and journalists.

Readmission agreement envisages the return of Azerbaijani citizens illegally residing in the EU and subjected to deportation.

Azerbaijan shall readmit, upon application by a Member State and without further formalities other than those provided for in this Agreement, any third-country nationals or stateless persons who do not, or who no longer, fulfill the conditions in force for entry to, presence in, or residence on, the territory of the Requesting Member State provided that it is proved.
