Baku – APA. The press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has commented on the statements of the U.S. Department of State and French Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Karen Petrosyan, a member of the subversive group of the Armenia Armed Forces.

The Ministry told APA that as stated the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, under the subversive group of the Armenia Armed Forces, Karen Petrosyan crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and entered the territories of Azerbaijan to commit sabotage.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces prevented the attack and sabotage of the subversive group and Karen Petrosyan was captured. The forensic experts openly and transparently investigated unknown causes of Karen Petrosyan’s sudden death and the International Committee of the Red Cross was immediately informed about his death.

Unlike Azerbaijan, Armenia, that occupied the Azerbaijani territories, is constantly violating the international humanitarian law and provisions of Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949 for the protection of war victims in respect to the Azerbaijani citizens in captivity. Many facts of mass killing of Azerbaijani citizens taken hostage or made prisoners by Armenia, inflicting horrific tortures and spiritual torments against them, humiliating them in inhumane and merciless manners, inciting them to suicide, or deaths among them as a result of torture have so far been committed. Yet over 4,000 Azerbaijanis taken hostage or imprisoned by Armenia as a result of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan have not been heard from until now.

Shahbaz Guliyev and Dilgam Asgarov, who attempted to visit their homelands and the graves of their parents, facing brutal tortures and humiliating treatment of Armenians, Hasan Hasanov being murdered, Armenian troops targeting civilians as well as underage children along the contact line of troops and the state border between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Armenian Armed Forces committing an act of terror like cowards on July 31 and August 1, and their another attempt to resume it show that Armenia’s policy is far beyond from international law, humanity and morality.

In return of these all, deliberately exaggerating Karen Petrosyan’s case and attempts to politicize his death are all aimed at covering up vicious acts committed by Armenians.

The statement, issued under the influence of Armenia and radical Armenian propaganda machine by Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, the United States and France which remain indifferent to such inhumane act of Armenia, as well as the fates of Shahbaz Guliyev, Dilgam Asgarov and Hasan Hasanov and the terror acts committed by Armenia on 31 July and 1 August, is incomprehensible and unacceptable. The one-sided and biased approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries towards such sensitive issues are not accepted unambiguously by the Azerbaijani society.

The Ministry also said that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries and the permanent members of the UN Security Council, in accordance with their commitments and responsibilities, should eliminate the consequences of the conflict, increase and mobilize efforts towards the solution of the conflict on the basis of the UN Charter, Security Council resolutions and Helsinki Final Act instead of such declarations.

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry calls on the U.S. and France, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries to demonstrate integrity regarding the solution of the conflict and not to be biased while expressing condolences and concerns.
