In accordance with Article 233 of the Labor Code, all employers, notwithstanding their form of ownership, must terminate all kinds of activities in open air as well as indoor places where there are no cooling installations or allow employees to have breaks, the State Labor Inspectorate Service said. The number and duration of breaks is determined on the basis of a joint decision by employers and the Trade Union. All the breaks are included in the working hours and calculated on monthly tariff salary.

In case of evasion from fulfilling the requirements from the Labor Code, employers will be brought to justice under the Code of Administrative Offences. According to article 54 of the Code of Administrative Offences, employers can be fined from AZN 1,000 up to AZN 2,000 for violation of the rules of protection of employees’ labor.

The State Labor Inspectorate Service have created working groups to ensure state supervision over the situation in this regard in the country’s all regions, especially low-lying zones.
