Baku-APA. FC Barcelona striker, Luis Suarez completed his first training session with his new club on Friday and admitted his relief afterwards at being able to feel as if he were a professional footballer again, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Suarez will be suspended until the end of October after the Court of Arbitration in Sport decided on Thursday to retain the four-month ban on him playing, which had been imposed by FIFA for his now infamous bite on Italy defender, Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup finals.
However, the CAS lifted the ban which forbad Suarez from taking part in any football related activity for that period and as a result he is now able to train with his companions.
"I am very happy to be able to feel like a footballer again and to be with my team-mates. I was really looking forward to starting," said Suarez on the FC Barcelona website.
"What I have to do now is wait until I can play, to get into contact with the fans and get to know what it is like to play in a ground like the Camp Nou," he added.
Suarez also made reference to the sanction, saying it was "a situation which left me feeling uncomfortable. I am paying for a mistake which I made and for which I have since apologized. Now we have to think about the future and that is with Barcelona, the club I had dreamed of playing for," he said, also thanking Barca for the support they had given him during the recent difficult weeks.
The Uruguayan's first official match for Barcelona could be the 'Clasico' against Real Madrid, if the match is scheduled for Sunday October 26, the day he is eligible to return to action.
