Baku – APA. Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB) Allahshukur Pashazadeh has given his response to the appeal of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on the recent escalation of violence on the front line. The CMB told APA that the Allahshukur Pashazadeh’s letter reads as follows:

“We got acquainted with your letter on the escalating tension on the contact line in Azerbaijan’s occupied territories and on the Azerbaijan-Armenia border. We totally share your concern over this pressing situation which brought about the death of servicemen and violation of the lives of civilians living along the bordering areas. But with a heavy heart, I have to tell you that all these acts of sabotage and shootouts are happening in Azerbaijani territories. Azerbaijani servicemen as well as our civilians suffer losses and fatal injuries as a result of ceasefire violation by Armenian troops. With a heavy heart, we inform you that Armenian servicemen have seriously injured three children in Azerbaijani villages in recent days. Encroaching on human life which is gifted by God is undoubtedly a major sin. Therefore, not only these acts of sabotage, but also the long-term war and territorial conflict need to be halted. By the will of the Almighty Creator, Armenian politicians need to finally hold on to a constructive position and show the necessary will towards this to establish fair and durable peace between our peoples who used to be neighbors. Such an approach conforms to the interests of the Armenian nation. Our people unambiguously support the restoration of peace, good-neighborly relations, as well as the international law in the region. Thus, Armenia must withdraw its troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, refugees and internally displaced persons must return to their lands. Only in this case, the tension between the two countries would be eliminated and the long-awaited lasting peace would be established. The Azerbaijani people have been patiently waiting for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for more than 20 years. Unfortunately, Azerbaijan’s calls for peace haven’t been heard by Armenia yet. The Armenian troops not only continue the occupation, but also systematic violation of the ceasefire and killing civilians. We urge you to influence the Armenian authorities for withdrawing their troops from the Azerbaijani territories and taking sound position in the peace talks in order to restore peace and confidence between the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples. Today, we pray Almighty God to establish lasting peace and stability in the region and hope that our peoples will benefit from the peaceful initiatives of religious leaders.”
