Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and other officials were also among the guests of honor.


Plotforma S-70 international combat sambo championship is held in Sochi for the fifth time.


This year, Russia’s national martial arts team faced a combined international team that included fighters from the USA, France, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus.

Speaking at a ceremony to award the Russian team, which won the tournament, President Vladimir Putin said sambo was developing in Azerbaijan. The Russian President thanked President Ilham Aliyev for ensuring the inclusion of sambo in the program of the first European Games to take place in Baku.

Baku-APA. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended international tournament in combat sambo "S-70 Platform", APA reports quoting ITAR-TASS.

Earlier today, Putin held separate talks with Aliyev and Sargsyan, during which the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was discussed.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Prime Ministers Arkady Dvorkovich and Dmitry Kozak, and Jean-Claude Killy, who served as chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission for the Sochi Olympics are present as guests of honor.

Moreover, such famous athletes as two-time Olympic champion Alexey Voevoda and Olympic boxing champion Alexander Povetkin are among the honorable guests.
