Azerbaijan marks Ramadan Holiday

The Azerbaijani government has decided to celebrate the Muslim holiday of Ramadan in two days – on June 28-29, depending upon the beginning of the next lunar month.

The Caucasus Muslims Board announced that the Eid prayer on the occasion of the end of Ramadan will be performed at 9.00 in Taza Pir Mosque and at 8:00 in Ajdarbay Mosque on July 29.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Chairman of Caucasian Muslim Board (CMB) Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh have already congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of Ramadan Holiday.

Fasting is completed with holiday of 'Eid al-Fitr'. All the wealthy Muslims on that day should help the poor. Fitr must be given before the Eid prayer. The minimum amount is approximately 3 kg of grain of persimmon (AZN 5-10) for each family member.
