Commemorative event held on 21st anniversary of occupation of Aghdam region

APA reports that members of Aghdam region’s public, employees of the international organizations in Azerbaijan, government officials, heads of the executive authorities of the occupied territories, members of the Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno-Karabakh Public Union attended the event.

A film dedicated to Aghdam was demonstrated at the beginning of the event.

Chief of Aghdam Executive Authority Ragub Mammadov in his speech said that more than 5000 Aghdam residents were killed in the war, dozens of residents were displaced from their homes. 16 Aghdam residents fought in the battles were awarded titles of National Hero of Azerbaijan.

Hasanov said Armenia continues its aggressive activity ignoring the decisions of the international organizations, adding that Aghdam residents are ready to fight to liberate their lands.

The chief executive said all necessary conditions and 18 new settlements have been created for IDPs in Aghdam region.

Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Refugees and IDPs, Ali Hasanov said that the occupation of Aghdam is temporary and all occupied territories, including Aghdam will be liberated.

The top official said the Azerbaijani public no longer believes the international organizations dealing with the settlement of the conflict, including the OSCE Minsk Group.

The event was followed by a literary-artistic composition.
