On July 19, 24-year-old Aynur Safarova was placed to hospital for childbirth. According to her father Fikrat Safarov, there were no incubators for prematurely born twins in the hospital.

“When an incubator was finally found, we are told that a doctor who is able to use it is in Barda. We brought her from Barda. Due to other problems, we asked them to give instructions for transferring the babies to Baku or Ganja. They said that they don’t have right to do it,” he said.

Safarov said then the children were handed to their father and he took them to Baku:

“But we have not provided an ambulance for this. The twins were first brought to Barda, but they were not admitted, after which the infants were taken to Baku. One of the children died on the way to Baku. Physicians in Baku told that if the children were brought to Baku on time, they could have been saved,” Safarov said.

Safarov also noted that the mother’s condition is normal and has been discharged from the hospital.

Head physician of Agdam Central Hospital Gulnar Abbasova told APA that Aynur Safarova’s family forcibly discharged the babies from the hospital.

“They were premature babies each of them with 1 kg and 1 kg 200 grams of weights. They had very little chance of survival. Therefore we let the babies be taken neither to Barda nor to Baku. We have an incubator in our hospital. Both babies were put into incubators. However, babies’ relatives insisted on taking the babies to Barda”, the physician informed.

Abbasova added that A.Safarova was not treated at hospital during her pregnancy.

“Though Aynur Safarova was living nearby our hospital she has been treated in Barda for 7 months of pregnancy. Nevertheless, when she was brought to our hospital we accepted her and though it was late we called the doctor back from Terter. The mother was admitted to the hospital with pains. We are happy that the mother survived. Because her condition was bad. She poisoned from watermelon two days before the birth. The premature birth is supposed to be caused by the poisoning,” Abbasova said.
