Media contact person for the ICRC Delegation to Azerbaijan Ilaha Huseynova told APA that the appeal says that if the information is proved to be right the ICRC is asked to carry out proper procedures in accordance with its mandate. “The ICRC, as a neutral intermediary, visits civilians and military prisoners detained related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, deals with their situations and contact with their families”, she said.

Armenia media reported that an Azerbaijani citizen was taken hostage in Kalbajar region. The hostage is Guliyev Shahbaz Jalal, the resident of Terter region.

Armenian press has released the hostage’s photos. Although he was dressed in civilian clothes in the photos, the Armenian side claims that he is a scout.

Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry said in its statement on the issue that the person mentioned on the Armenian media outlets does not serve in the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.
