Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. Statistics on HIV-infected people in Azerbaijan in 2013 was made public.
APA reports quoting AIDS center of the Ministry of Health that number of HIV-infected people in 2013 made 514 in Azerbaijan.
494 of them (96.1%) were Azerbaijani citizens, 20 (3.9%) – foreigners. 203 of 514 HIV-infected people (39.5%) are infected with HIV through injection and 163 of them have been registered in the clinic.
A total of 4,298 people were registered as HIV-infected patients in Azerbaijan in 1987-2013. 4,149 (96.5%) of them are Azerbaijani citizens, 149 (3.5%) – foreigners. 3,353 (78%) of HIV-infected people are men, 945 (22%) – women. 2,044 of 4,298 HIV-infected people (56.9%) are infected with HIV through injection drug use and 1,777 (72.7%) of them have been registered in the clinic.
