The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) told APA that commenting on Ukraine crisis, Davies issued a statement supporting Azerbaijan's position on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The statement says that the recent developments in Ukraine once again showed the importance of stability for Europe: “Russia's annexation of Crime resulted in support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine by the Western leaders, including Barack Obama, David Cameron, Angela Merkel. They are clearly right in condemning Russia’s actions and supporting internationally recognized borders of Ukraine.”

It also reveals our double standard approach towards Azerbaijan: “Nagorno-Karabakh is part of internationally recognized sovereign territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, but we don’t see strong support of the same leaders like in Ukrainian issue. The United Kingdom is the largest investor in Azerbaijan thanks to BP, we have a lot to lose in the case of the escalation of the conflict. Now it is high time to pay more attention to the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, peaceful settlement of the conflict within the international law and return of hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons to their home.”
