Baku-APA. Czech President Milos Zeman on Friday appointed Social Democrat (CSSD) head Bohuslav Sobotka as the new Czech prime minister, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The appointment took place 83 days after the Czech general election in October 2013, the longest gap between the polls and the naming of a new head of government.

Sobotka, 42, is the 11th prime minister since the independence of the Czech Republic in January 1993. He will head a centre-left coalition government of the CSSD, ANO and the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL). The new political mandate of the government will be released by end-January.

Sobotka said he is ready to submit a proposal for the appointment of a new government soon.

"I am convinced that the government has a chance of winning confidence in the chamber of deputies," he said.

The new government's priorities will be generating economic growth and creating new jobs.

Zeman reportedly objects to some ministerial nominees. Sobotka has said if Zeman refused to appoint some candidates, he could file a competence complaint with the constitutional court.

Sobotka is the second youngest prime minister of the Czech Republic. The youngest was Stanislav Gross (CSSD), appointed in July 2004 at the age of 34 years and nine months.
