European Azerbaijan Society and Yahad-In Unum plan to establish network of researchers studying Holocaust and genocides

Expressing his gratitude to the European Azerbaijan Society for organizing the event, Patrick Desbois said the symposium contributed to exchanging experience among researchers studying Holocaust and genocides from Germany, Ukraine, UK, US and Azerbaijan.

“Dialogue has been established for future cooperation. I hope in future Holocaust will be studied more profoundly here, we will assist in the study of the issues causing Azerbaijan’s concern”, he said.

Representative of the European Azerbaijan Society, historian Karim Shukurov said TEAS and Yahad-In Unum would continue cooperation.
“We will especially continue studying the materials in the Azerbaijani archives regarding the Jews, who took refuge in our country. Interviews will be taken from the witnesses of these events. We also plan to jointly study Khojaly genocide”, he said.

The international symposium on “The role of Azerbaijan in World War II and as a refuge from the Holocaust in the Caucasus” was held in Baku on October 17-18. APA reports that the symposium was organized by the European Azerbaijan Society and Yahad-In Unum. Scientists and experts from Germany, US, Ukraine, France, UK, Azerbaijan, representatives of the diplomatic missions attended the symposium.
