Azerbaijan takes over chairmanship of ECO Council of Ministers from Turkey - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION - VIDEO</font>

Attending the opening ceremony Turkish Foreign Minister, present chairman of ECO Council of Ministers Ahmet Davutoglu welcomed Azerbaijan’s taking over the chairmanship from Turkey. He said that Turkey will share its experience as a chairman with Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov gave information about the priorities during chairmanship of ECO. The priorities include enhancement of dialogue on transportation, information technologies and environment. Minister underlined that Azerbaijan will continue supporting peacekeeping process in Afghanistan. Mentioning the protracted conflicts in ECO area, Elmar Mammadyarov said Nagorno Karabakh conflict must be solved within the respect for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and existing borders. He expressed his gratitude to ECO member states for supporting Azerbaijan’s position on Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Representatives of 10 states and international organizations are attending the meeting.

ECO was founded by Turkey, Iran and Pakistan in 1985. Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan joined the organization in 1992.

The 12th summit of ECO heads of state and government will be held in Baku tomorrow.
