Director of Library of Alexandria, world-known scientist writes article about great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi

Baku – APA. Director of Egypt’s Library of Alexandria, Executive Director of the World Digital Library, UN Special Envoy for Intercultural Dialogue Dr. Ismail Serageldin wrote an article about Nizami Ganjavi.

APA reports that in the article about 870th anniversary of great thinker, Serageldin wrote about his life journey: “He was really a universal person, his works played an important role in growing of many people such as Germany’s Goethe, Azerbaijan’s Gara Garayev and West’s Eric Clapton”.

The article noted Nizami Ganjavi’s heritage as the main foothold in scientific researches: “His deep knowledge of philosophy, mathematics, biology, astrology, chemistry and medicine, including detailed knowledge of Quran, attitude to Islam’s philosophy and rules are of special importance”.

Then the author named Nizami as “a bridge uniting time and place”, “one of the greatest philosophers who contributed to the world literature”: “Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi’s “Khamsa” is not only a symbol of past, but also a treasure of the world. As in all great legends, with its historical customs it topped to the humanity from the synthesis of great art”.

Dr. Serageldin will visit Azerbaijan in September 2012 at the invitation of the Cooperation University and Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, with the assistance of the Center of Eurasian Dialogue.

He will hold discussions and deliver lectures at the ministries of Education, Culture and Tourism, Diaspora Committee, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and State University of Economics. Serageldin is planning to attend the Nizami’s 870th anniversary events in Ganja as well. He will visit Turkey and Georgia before arriving in Azerbaijan.
