Opening ceremony of London 2012 Olympic Games starts

In these games, 10,500 athletes from 204 countries will compete for 302 sets of medals in 36 sports.

London accepts the Olympic Games for the third time. Prior to that, there were games of 1908 and 1948-second period.

The first winner of the 30th Olympic Games will be known today in the shooting of pneumatic guns at 10 am

Azerbaijan is represented at the event in London, a record number of athletes - 53. Among them, 39 men and 14 women. Our athletes will participate in 15 sports.

Our team has the best chance to win medal in boxing wrestling, judo, weightlifting, taekwondo, gymnastics, canoeing and rowing. So there is hope for medals in shooting and equestrian.
Azerbaijan participates in the Summer Olympics as an independent country for the 5th time.
