Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. The topic of the second panel at the constituent congress of the World Azerbaijani Youth Union was “Azerbaijani lobby-building: realities of contemporary world and historical experience at students’ glance”, APA reports. Member of the Coordination Council of the World Azerbaijanis, chairman of The European Azerbaijan Society Tale Heydarov delivered a speech on the theme “Active participation of the Azerbaijani youth in the lobby-building: existing practice and realities of the present-day world”.

Tale Heydarov spoke about the organization chaired by him.
“Our organization was founded in London four years ago. Now the organization has offices in London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels and Baku. Our goal is to popularize Azerbaijan in the European countries in all directions. The first direction aims to create good image of Azerbaijan in the European media. For example, making films… I mean both feature films and films in other genres. Our organization is carrying out activities in this sphere. A film on the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence is being made under the leadership of American expert on Azerbaijan, journalist and Professor Thomas Goltz. Foreign journalists, diplomats and statesmen share their impressions about Azerbaijan in this film. Our aim is to show this film on foreign TV channels and in festivals,” he said.

Heydarov emphasized the role of the internet in the field of promotion. “We must effectively use the opportunities of the internet. Other main direction is the lobbyist work in the European parliaments. Our society established the Azerbaijan All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) at the UK parliament. Currently it is one of the largest groups at the British parliament. It has 60 members. We have organized the visit of APPG members to Azerbaijan several times. Such visits have great effectiveness, because to read about Azerbaijan is one thing, witnessing the development of the country is another thing”.

Heydarov spoke about the role of publications in the lobbyist activity: “Our society publishes its magazine now. Mammad said Ordubadi’s “Years of Blood” and “The Armenian Question in the Caucasus” of the History Series could be considered important from this point of view. I would like to underline the Ziya Bunyadov’s “Azerbaijan in 7-8th centuries” and Collection of Selected Works of Azerbaijani Writers as well. “The Armenian Question in the Caucasus” caused great concern among the Armenian lobby in the US. Armenian professor George Bournoutian at Columbia University published an article in Ararat magazine about it”.
