Baku hosts Azerbaijan-Russia business-forum - <font color=red>PHOTO - VIDEO </font>

Baku. NIjat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Today, Azerbaijan-Russia business-forum was held in Baku within the official visit of Russian Deputy Minister and President’s envoy for the new North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin to Baku.

According to APA-Economics, the event was organized by Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development and AzPromo and near 200 Azerbaijni and Russian businessmen engaging in food industry, agriculture, energy, construction, consulting, machinery and other sectors attended the forum.

Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev informed about reforms and successes in Azerbaijan. He noted that, Azerbaijan’s GDP tripled, as well share of non-oil sector in GDP doubled, oil sector quintrupled, investments in economy tripled: “$100 bln was invested in Azerbaijan, since its independence. Azerbaijan’s share in South Caucasus is over 70%”.

Speaking about Azerbaijan-Russia links Minister noted that, these two countries had signed 100 contracts, so far, 13 meetings of intergovernmental commission was held: “The works on promotion of mutual investments are accelerated”.

Mustafayev noted that, Russia was one of main trade partners of Azerbaijan. The trade turnover between two countries made $2bln, in 2010, up 5.7% from 2009. Trade turnover rose 60% to $2 bln, during 8 months of 2011: “139 enterprises with russian capital were established in Azerbaijan, during past 3 years, $ 4 mln was invested in economy. This is mutual”.

Khloponin spoke about current economic relations between two countries, state programs adopted in North Caucasus, cooperation and investment opportunities.

Russian Regional Development Minister Sergey Vereshchagin noted that, 4 winter ski resorts were constructed in North Caucasus. Total worth will make 450 bln RR ($15 bln).

Within the event, bilateral meetings were held between the businessmen of two countries.

Note that, Azerbaijani Deputy PM Yagub Eyyubov, Ministers of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev, Transport – Ziya Mammadov and Azerenergy’s President Etibar Priverdiyev attended the business-forum.
