Baku hosts International transport conference – <font color=red>PHOTO</font> – <font color=red>VIDEO</font>

The conference took place within the framework of X Anniversary International Transport, Transit and Logistics Exhibition TransCaspian 2011 held by the support of Transport Ministry and organization of Iteca Caspian.

Representatives from the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, commercial and public organizations, as well as foreign experts attended the conference held on “Azerbaijan’s increasing role as a transit country on the crossroads of strategic transport corridors and developing transport infrastructure”. Speeches and presentations on the implemented projects, TRACECA corridor, transport operations and the development of ports and etc were presented at the conference.

TRACECA’s Azerbaijan National Secretary Akif Mustafayev spoke about prospects of the corridor, the new opportunities arised from the implementation of transport projects, and Azerbaijan’s role in them. Thereafter, transport ministers of Azerbaijan and Russia Ziya Mammadov, Igor Levitin joined the event. In his speech, the Russian minister touched upon the regional transportation projects, and Azerbaijan’s role in them. According to his words, a very important geographic position and the best places of Azerbaijan allow the country to become an essential part of transport corridors: “With the commissioning of the North-South transport corridor, freight and cargo volume passing through Azerbaijan will increase more”

The conference was addressed by representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the State Maritime Administration, “Azerbaijan Railways” JSC, Transport Ministry’s departments - Avtonagliyat and Azeryolservis, Baku Metro and Tidewater company.
