Vasily Velichkoâ€™s â€œThe Caucasus: Russiaâ€™s affair and intertribal issuesâ€ presented

Chief of the political analysis and information department of the Presidential Administration Elnur Aslanov said first the book was published in 1904. It was about the dramatic processes in the South Caucasus, about the features of the peoples living there and significance of this region for Russia. â€œVasily Velichko was a patriot of his country. He loved his country and showed how unskilled were the Russian state officials, who intended to create good atmosphere for the Armenians in that timeâ€.

Elnur Aslanov said the book would be published in Russia soon and would be translated into English and popularized in the world. He said Azerbaijan would use such publications until liberation of its territorial lands - Nagorno Karabakh and nearby regions.

Georgian scientist and academician Royen Metreveli said the Russian researcher took objective position and was very objective in the issues such as Armeniansâ€™ movement to the Caucasus and valuation of Islam.

Director of the Institute of History of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Yagub Mahmoudov said Vasily Velichko traveled inch by inch on the South Caucasus, researched the sources and then wrote this book. The academician noted that away back to early 20th century, Vasily Velichko showed the Armenian lobby as a threat to the world. He conducted this research work and made recommendations that Russia pursued right policy in the South Caucasus.
