Azerbaijani Language and Culture Center opened at the Moscow Linguistic University

Moscow. Roman Aghayev – APA. On Wednesday, the Azerbaijani language and Culture Center was opened at the Moscow Linguistic University, APA Moscow bureau reports. The center was established as a joint project of the Moscow Linguistic University (MLU) and Baku Slavic University (BSU). MLU Rector Irina Khaleeva and BSU Rector Kamal Abdulla cut the symbolic ribbon and the official opening ceremony was continued at the university’s assembly hall. Representatives of the Azerbaijani community in Moscow, officials of the Russian Foreign Ministry, State Duma, as well as representatives of the Russian scientific society and students attended the ceremony. Irina Khaleeva said opening of the center was a contribution to President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Russia on April 16. “The center was officially opened today, but it provided its activity for almost several months. In three years, the first Azerbaijani translators will start to work in Russia”.

Ambassador Polad Bulbuloglu said the opening of the center was a one more evidence of strengthening of friendship between Azerbaijan and Turkey. “Azerbaijan can be an example for its respect to the Russian culture. The Slavic University, which provides successful activity, is a culture center of Slavic peoples, particularly the Russian culture. The Russian high-ranking delegations are certainly visiting this university during their visit to Azerbaijan”.

BSU Rector Professor Kamal Abdulla thanked the MLU authorities for their assistance to the center. “The education of Azerbaijani language has started in this influential university three years ago and the Slavic University Professor Bella Musayeva is successfully teaching the Azerbaijani here. This center will promote the development of Azerbaijani studies in Russia”.

Deputy Director of 4th CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrey Kryuchko said the center would make great contribution to the development of bilateral relations. “Azerbaijan is multinational country and the Russian language and culture is deeply respected in this country. The opening of this center is the next event in the field of humanitarian cooperation. Earlier the branch of Moscow State University and Russian Culture Center were opened in Baku”.

Following the official opening ceremony, the students performed concert program in Azerbaijani and Russian.
