Tbilisi–APA. “Russian leadership’s actions significantly boosted Mikhail Saakashvili’s rating”, said former Georgian President Edward Shevardnadze at the press conference in Tbilisi, APA reports. He said Russia’s strong statements positively effected on the Saakashvili’s rating. “As a result of these statements Saakashvili’s influence boosted for more than ten times, because this is a character of Georgian people, if someone meddles in their affairs, their national proud comes forward. It happened when Russia announced breaking of relations with Mikhail Saakashvili”. Edward Shevardnadze said recognition of South Ossetia’s and Abkhazia’s independence by Russia freed Saakashvili from responsibility for unsuccessful military operations. “The United States and Europe are not ready for changing power in Georgia now because they must regulate more serious problems”.
