Moscow-APA. “Georgia and Abkhazia should conduct peaceful negotiations urgently. Georgian side should not use force to Abkhazia and ensure it economically, culturally and politically. Negotiations should be conducted without any terms”, Matthew Bryza, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs said, APA reports.
The US wants to solve the conflict basing on its national interests.
“We are interested in stability in Georgia”, he said. Bryza noted that there should be stability in the region for normal activity of BTC oil pipeline and security issues took the first stage for the US.
“Security is an important issue. Energy security - pipelines and other issues are second planned-issues”, he said. Bryza noted that the US was interested in development of democracy in the region.
“Our position on frozen conflicts is clear. The conflicts should be solved within the framework of Georgia’s territorial integrity. Although declaration of independence of Abkhazia, it remains as a part of Georgia”, he said.
