China quake kills at least 10,000, 60,000 people remain missing

China – APA. At least 10,000 people were killed and 60,000 missing by the earthquake that struck Sichuan province of China. APA reports quoting Xinhua agency that 7.6 magnitude quake destroyed houses, schools, plants, hospitals, thousands of people remain under the wreckages.

The local authorities fail to contact three cities, as the telephone cables are out of order. The rescuers can not reach these cities since the aftershocks destroyed the roads. Over 50,000 servicemen work on the site. Premier Wen Jiabao heads the rescue operations.
