Remnants of ancient Ahamanis state’s 2500-year-old building found Azerbaijani Shamkir region

We have revealed as a result of archeological excavations we conducted in Garajaemili village of Shamkir region” principle of Archeology and Ethnography Department of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Ilyas Babayev told the APA’s local bureau.
A foundation and middle columns of administrative building aged 2500 years old were found as result of archeological excavations.
Germany-Azerbaijani-Georgian joint archeological expedition conducted excavations.
Germany archeologist Florian claus, Georgian archeologist Yulon Gagashidze and prof.Ilyas Babayev participated in the excavations. Ilyas Babayev underline dthat the expedition has been operating since 2006 and Germany government assumed all financial sides:” The monument in here was constructed during the times of Ahamanis. The building found here was possibly Ahamanis’ headquarter in southern Caucasus. Such monument were found Azerbaijani Gazakh region first in 1958-1959. The building was unused after the Ahamnais collapsed” he added.
I.Babayevv said that the building was unused after the Ahamanis collapsed:” But the archeological finds show that they worked here in different periods. We would like to continue such explorations. There a lot of high hills in Shamkir. We intend to get special apparatuses from German and to check what hide under these hills. This area covers large region. There is a room of 101 square meters in the found administrative building. There are small rooms around this room. The foundation of the room is made of detritus while the walls of bricks” he added.
Garajemili residents are also involved into the excavations./APA/
