The first prose and translation work, as well as first religious epic of Turkish-speaking peoples about the life of Prophet Muhammad (s) has been found, Deputy Director of the Institute of Manuscripts of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Pasha Alioglu told the APA.
Mammad Adilov, Director of the Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS has just returned from Istanbul and Konya, Turkey and brought copies of several valuable manuscripts. One of the monuments is Azerbaijani poet Mustafa Zerir’s book “Siretun-Nebi or Siyer”. Mustafa Zerir translated Arabian scientist Ibn Ishag’s book “Kitabu-siretul-Resulullah” under the title “Siretun-nebi” into Azerbaijani. Great poet finished translation in 1380.
Mustafa Zerir’s translation is considered the first prose and translation work, as well as first religious epic in Turkish literature about Prophet Mahammad’s (s) life.
The copy of another ancient manuscript is Naimi’s “Javidanname”. “Javidanname” was translated into Turkish in the 15th century. /APA/
