Cyril Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians invited to take part in interfaith summit of CIS countries in Baku

Baku - APA. Patriarch Cyril invited the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on its own behalf and behalf of the spiritual leader of Azerbaijan, the head of the Caucasus Muslims Allahshukur Pashazadeh to attend the second inter-religious summit of CIS countries in Baku, APA reports citing Novosti Armenia.
"I brought an invitation to His Holiness to go to Baku, to express its position on the important issues that will be discussed there. I believe that our openness, which has nothing to do with weakness, loss of national identity, with the loss of religious identity, our openness is capable of so much change in this world, so that the world saw the face of the Christian church "- the patriarch said at a meeting with professors faculty and students of Yerevan State University. Second Inter-religious summit of the CIS organized by the Interreligious Council of the CIS countries, and will be held in April in Baku. The Patriarch also noted that the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church is actively involved in the settlement of the Karabakh issue. "Our goal - to create an atmosphere for people to no longer look at each other virtually, but through the sight, to suddenly realize that their joint efforts depends on their shared future", - said the Patriarch. He also expressed gratitude to the Catholicos of All Armenians, because "His Holiness has never shied away from these peacekeeping actions, had always been open interaction, never done anything that would violate the interests of its people, and have never made such a way that would impede the further important conversation.
