Travels to Iraq are dangerous, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry warns

Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry warned the citizens about the terrorist acts and armed incidents in Iraq, APA reports.
The travelers’ warning says:
“Though the number of the terror attacks have reduced in Iraq compared with the previous years, it is still dangerous to travel to this country. Especially travels to Baghdad, from its northern parts to Mosul and Kerkuk must be delayed. Travels to Basra, Maysan, Al Anbar, Salahaddin, Diyata, Wasit, Babil, Ninawa, Al-Qadisiyah, Muthanna, Najaf, Kerbela, Dhi Qar are also dangerous.
Clashes occur every day between the Iraqi security forces and various armed groups, foreigners are attacked in Iraq. On January 28, one Azerbaijani was killed, two wounded as the bus carrying pilgrims was fired.
Thousands of people are killed and wounded as a result of kidnapping, detonation of explosives in transport vehicles, crowded places.
Travel by road is very dangerous because cars are frequently attacked, particularly on the way from the Baghdad International Airport and center of the city.
Iraqi government closed the Kella, Sarnban-Qolle, Tayvela and Parviz Khan check-points on borders with Iran. Abdali and Safvan points bordering with Kuwait were also closed.
Azerbaijani citizens planning to travel to Iraq are requested to take above-mentioned issues into consideration and to be very careful.
Azerbaijani citizens residing in Iraq permanently or temporarily are recommended to contact with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and to be registered at the consulate to get easier assistance when they face with problems.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan is not responsible for the incidents the country’s citizens could face during their travels. “For your information, there is no any region or country in the world that to be out of terror or emergency situation”.
