Azerbaijani Interior Minister and Prosecutor General visit Sumgayit in connection with murder of employee of foreign exchange office

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Azerbaijan’s Interior Minister Ramil Usubov and Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov visited Sumgayit in connection with the armed incident.

Sumgayit law-enforcement bodies told APA that Ramil Usubov and Zakir Garalov concerned themselves with the investigation of the crime as a result of which employee of the foreign exchange office Vugar Balayev was killed, his father Ismayil Balayev was wounded. The witnesses were interrogated in the presence of Ramil Usubov and Zakir Garalov, evidences were analyzed. Prosecutor General and Interior Minister familiarized with the investigation materials and gave necessary instructions to the group.

On February 20, Ismayil Balayev and his son Vugar Balayev underwent armed attack by unknown persons. In the aftermath of the attack, Vigar Balayev died on the spot, Ismayil Balayev was wounded and hospitalized.

Interior Ministry and Prosecutor General’s Office set up an investigation group. Criminal case was launched on the fact on article 120.2.5 (murder for profit), 29, 120.2.5, 120.2.7 (attempt to kill two or more persons for profit) and 228 (illegal carrying firearms) of the Criminal Code. The identikit of the suspect was prepared. Measures are being taken to detain the offender.

Father and son, who underwent armed attack in Sumgayit, are close relatives of MP Igbal Agazadeh.
