Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. 80 people were detained in Sumgayit city of Azerbaijan for agitation of “nurcular” movement, local law-enforcement organizations told APA.
Police identified that Gadir Pashayev, 33 organized illegal religious ceremonies in the house of his brother Ilgar Pashayev in Sumgayit. Police raided Pashayev’s house where 80 believers gathered for agitation of “nurculular”. They were detained and taken to police office.
About 148 banned religious books were found out in the apartment. Some of “nurcu” agitators were judicially restrained.
Police office of Sumgayit city confirmed the fact to APA. There were no reports about the details of special operation, but detention of those persons for illegal religious agitation was confirmed. Police said materials collected about the leader of “nurcu” group Gadir Pashayev and others were sent to the court. The investigation is going on.
