APA - Family and Labor Codes, Law on Children’s Rights expected to be amended

Baku – APA. Social Policy Committee of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) discussed amendments to legislative acts about approval of Referendum Act on amendments and annexes to Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, APA reports. Chairman of the committee Hadi Rajabli informed about the draft amendments. He said the amendments were expected to be made to the Family and Labor Codes, as well as Law on Children’s Rights. The amendments are just about the protection of children rights. According to the amendments, employment of children under 15 will be prohibited and those who breach a law will be brought to justice.

The draft was recommended to the plenary session of the parliament.

The committee also discussed prospects of cooperation with UNICEF and involvement of NGOs in lawmaking process. Azay Guliyev, chairman of the Council of Government Support to NGOs under President of Azerbaijan, said involvement of NGO’s in social legislation process would improve the process. Rajabli said this sphere could receive grants as well.
