Baku – APA-ECONOMICS. Minister of Justice Mykola Onishchuk has stated that Ukrainian courts have outlawed the right to leave Ukraine, for 2,682 directors of companies in relation to their non-payment of staff salaries, ISRIA reported.
"We are providing the Customs department with the appropriate court decisions, and thus the basis of refusal. These people will not be granted the right to leave Ukraine, regardless of whether they have valid tickets and visas," said the head of the Ministry of Justice at a press conference in Kyiv.
In the opinion of Mykola Onishchuk, the State Executive Service has initiated 8,878 cases of rejection of travel rights in the first 9 months of 2009. This is in relation to the management of companies who have refused to pay-out staff salaries.
"To date 4,866 cases have been examined, and of these 2,682 have been found to be exempt. In our opinion, the courts’ decision is an effective method in influencing such directors, who have allowed this level of debt to occur," added Mykola Onishchuk.
As it is known, the Cabinet of Ministers has yet again warned that directors of companies who have refused to payout staff salaries, and thus have ‘debtor’ status, will personally be held responsible.
Based on latest government figures, from the beginning of this year, 7974 high-profile company directors were held to account for the non-payment of staff salaries in their business. The sum total of all fines, imposed by courts and government inspectors is estimated at 2.6 miliion hryvnia.
