Chairman of Russian Central Muslims Board Talgat Tajuddin: “Unfortunately we are not yet ready for inter-religious dialogue today”

A two-day international conference “Interreligious dialogue: from mutual understanding towards joint cooperation”, dedicated to 60 years jubilee of the chairman of Caucasian Muslims Office Allahshukur Pashazadeh and 30 years of his activity in this post, continued its work in Teze Pir Moscque of Baku on Saturday. Chairman of the State Committee for Religious Associations Hidayat Orujov presided over the conference. In his congratulatory speech Chairman of the Russian Central Muslims Board Talgat Tajuddin emphasized the necessity of dialogue between all peoples and societies. “But unfortunately we are not yet ready for dialogue today. Traditional religions need to co-exist in the condition of dialogue and cooperation today. Mutual understanding between Sunni and Shiah is important as we see it in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus. Today all Muslims are facing with same problems and we have to unite our activities”.
Head of the Islamic Research Center under the President of Tajikistan Nuradullah Dovlatov read out the letter of congratulation of the president of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Allahshukur Pashazadeh.
Chairman of Russian Mufti Council Ravil Gaynutdin welcomed the Sheikh’s initiatives for solution of Karabakh problem and peace and stability in the Caucasus. “It is very important that there will not be conflicts between religions and peoples”.
Georgian patriarch Ilya II said he was hopeful that territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Georgia would be restored. “If we want peace in the Caucasus we have to achieve territorial integrity. Justice is the first issue for achieving peace. There is no peace without justice”.
Kuwaiti minister of foundations Adil al-Falah, representative of Iranian president Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, representative of the Turkey’s Religious Affairs Office Mehmet Yemin Ozafshar, representative of Saudi Arabia Abdurrahman al-Zeyid also addressed the conference and congratulated Allahshukur Pashazadeh. The conference will finish in the second half of the day. After the conference, participants will visit Heydar Aliyev Foundation and see Baku City.
