BSEC Ministers of Communications and Information Technologies meet in Baku

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. The Ministers of Communications and Information Technologies of the Member States of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) have today met in Baku under the chairmanship of Azerbaijani Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov and Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliev.
In his speech Ali Abbasov spoke about the development of the ICT sector and the expansion of cooperation in the Black Sea region.
Dr. Hamadoun Touré, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), underlined the significance of this event in terms of close cooperation.
In his words, development of the ICT sector may provide the basic solution to get out of the global financial crisis.
"I last visited Azerbaijan two years ago, and I see extensive changes here, including in the ICT sector,” he added.
The meeting was attended by ministers of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey.
On basis of outcomes of the meeting, a declaration and action plan of the BSEC ICT group will be adopted by May 2010.
