Azerbaijani parliament approves report on combating human trafficking

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev – APA. At the next sitting of the parliament’s fall session National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking, Deputy Interior Minister Vilayat Eyvazov made a report on combating human trafficking in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
Vilayat Eyvazov said that 71 crimes related to human trafficking were recorded in the past months of 2009, 18 criminal groups, including one organized gang were rendered harmless. Totally, 65 criminals were exposed. 19 officers, who participated in solving the crimes, were awarded under the order of Interior Ministry. 47 out of 82 victims, including one child were provided shelter, they were offered legal, medical and psychological assistance, the majority of them were reintegrated into the society.
The National Coordinator’s report was followed by discussions. The parliamentarians voted for the report.
