Derbent - APA. A group of lezgins living in Dagestan will rally in Krasnopresnenski Zastava square of Moscow, the election office of former nominee for Derbent mayor’s office Imam Yaraliyev told APA’s Dagestan bureau. The cause of the rally is the falsification of the results of the local elections held in Derbent on October 11. A group of people have today left for Moscow to participate in the rally. The main organizer of the rally is Moscow-based organization of Federal Lezgin National Cultural Autonomy. The lezgins living in Moscow, representatives of some public organizations, media, the parliamentarians representing Dagestan in the Russian parliament have been invited to the rally. The participants will demand annulment of the results of the elections and resignation of Dagestan President Mukhu Aliyev.
In the elections held on October 11, the main nominees for Derbent mayor’s office were present mayor Feliks Kaziakhmedov and Imam Yaraliyev, present head of Suleyman Stalski executive power, who had been Prosecutor General of Dagestan for 11 years. Feliks Kaziakhmedov gained 67 percent of the votes and was reelected mayor of Derbent. Imam Yaraliyev’s supporters held a protest action a day after the elections, but the action was dispersed.
