Baku – APA. Russian legislation toughens measures against the mafia bosses. The State Duma adopted a law considering strong punishment for establishing or participating in the criminal groups, APA reports quoting the Russian newspapers. The bill was drafted by Russian president Dmitriy Medvedev.
Vice chairman of the Duma’s lawmaking committee Vladimir Gruzdev said it was directed against the Russian mafia bosses. “Soon we will pull out the phrase of “mafia boss” from the lexicon of our citizens. The criminal should be in jail”.
Maximum term of imprisonment for establishing the organized criminal group was increased from 20 years to life sentence.
