Human Rights Commissioner: The employees of Transport Inspection and Azeryolservis OSC beat and insult drivers

Baku – APA. Azerbaijan’s Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova appealed to Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov, Human Rights Commissioner’s press service told APA.
According to the complaints received by Elmira Suleymanova and media reports the employees of Azerbaijani Transport Ministry violate the law.
“The employees of Transport Inspection and Azeryolservis OSC remove number plates, take the documents belonging to the car and driver, beat and insult drivers. Amirguliyeva Raya Shikhbaba sent a letter to the Human Rights Commissioner on August 17 saying that her son Mehman Amirguliyev was beaten by the employees of Traffic Protection Department of Transport Ministry. The complainant also attached the video of beating. The video was posted on the Internet and caused public discussions.”
The Human Rights Commissioner regrets that such unpleasant cases continue. Suleymanova asks the minister to take measures to eliminate such cases, explain the citizens their rights, duties, laws and rules, punish the employees violating the law, control the work of the employees of Transport Inspection and give information about the measures.
