Baku – APA. Newscaster Martínez Gil was found dead in Acapulco, Mexico. Gil was killed on July 27. Information Department of International Eurasia Press Fund told APA that International Press Institute had given information about it. IPI Director David Dodge expressed his concern over the recent killings of journalists and called on the Mexican authorities to take measures to punish the criminals.
Journalist Carlos Ortega Samper was killed near his house in May this year, another journalist Eliseo Barron Hernandez was found dead in Torreon. Lolo Palmer, a Campeche-based society reporter, was knifed in June. Reporter Rincón Taracena went missing in January, 2007.
The reporter of Belgrade-based weekly Vreme newspaper Milos Vasic received a letter on July 28 in which someone threatened to kill him.
