Trespassers committed armed incident on Azerbaijan-Iran borders were members of radical religious group

Jalilabad. Aghaddin Babayev. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. All details of an armed incident occurred on Azerbaijan-Iran borders were identified. The armed incident occurred in Asadli Village of Azerbaijan’s Jalilabad Region bordering on Islamic Republic of Iran, APA correspondent reports from the site.

Border guards identified two men attempting to pass the Azerbaijan-Iran borders illegally. The trespassers didn’t pay attention to the warnings of body guards. Both men had greande on their hands and they threatened body guards trying to fall back toward the Iranian border. The body guards opened warning fire and following that the trespassers detonated their hand grenades. Both trespassers and border guard soldier Elton Khaleddin Iskanderov, 19 were killed as a result of grenade explosion. Border troops officer Major Vazir Akbar Gafarov was wounded.
The trespassers were Baku City resident Hashimov Sadig Vagif, 23 and resident of Bahmanli village of Fuzuli region Mammadov Ramin Ramiz, 28. Compass, religious books and a flash card were taken from them. A lot of religious books have also been taken from the house of Mammadov Ramin Ramiz. Jalilabad Region Prosecutor’s Office has launched a criminal case on the fact.

It should be noted that soldier of State Border Service Iskandarov Elton Khaleddin, 19, killed in the shooting on Azerbaijan-Iran border had been buried in Ahmadbayli village of Samukh region. Representatives of SBS participated in the funeral ceremony. Iskandarov Elton Khaleddin was drafted in 2008.
