Azeri player Vugar Hashimov suffers first defeat in Grand Prix


Baku. Kenan Hasanov - APA-Sport. Azerbaijani players couldn’t succeed in the 11th round of Grand Prix held in Sochi, Russia.
Teimour Radjabov drew with Vasili Ivanchuk from Ukraine. Vugar Hashimov was beaten by Dmitri Jakovenko (Ukraine). This is the first defeat of Azeri player in last 23 games. Levon Aronian (Armenia) won over Boris Gelfand (Israel), Sergey Karyakin (Ukraine) over Ivan Cheparinov (Bulgaria) and Pyotr Svidler (Russia) over Mohammed Al Modiaki (Qatar) in the same round. The encounters of Van Jue (China) - Gata Kamsky (USA), David Navara (Czech Republic) - Aleksandr Grishuk (Russia) ended in draws as well. Aronian is leading the tournament with 7 points. Radjabov and Hashimov have scored 6.5 and 6 points respectively. Today in the 12th round Radjabov will play against Aronian, Gelfand against Karyakin, Grishuk against Ivanchuk, Cheparinov against Modiaki, Jue against Navara, Kamsky against Hashimov and Svidler against Jakovenko.
