Azerbaijan to join world wrestling championship


Baku. Elshen Mammedov - APA-Sport. Azerbaijan will participate in world freestyle, Greco-Roman wrestling championship to start July 29 in Istanbul, Turkey, federation official Metleb Abdullayev told APA-Sport.
Abdullayev stated that Azeri team consists of 17 wrestlers. Nijat Muradov (50 kg), Yashar Aliyev (55 kg), Khaybula Shahalov (60 kg), Jabrayıl Hasanov (66 kg), Perviz Mammedov (74 kg), Sherif Sherifov (84 kg), Jamaleddin Mehemmedov (96 kg) and Michail Gazzayev (120 kg) are to join freestyle wrestling competition. Shahalov, Meherremov and Gazzayev are Russian sportsmen. Coach Agalar Aslanov will lead Greco-Roman team, including 6 wrestlers - Orkhan Ahmedov (50 kg), Taleh Mammedov (55 kg), Hadjıkhan Mustafayev (60 kg), Rafig Huseynov (66 kg), Elvin Murseliyev (74 kg), Səbuhi Humbetov (84 kg) and Aydın Seferov (96 kg). Trainer Arif Fermanov will take two female wrestlers – Nadya Gradyuk (51 kg) and Sona Ahmedli (59 kg) – to Reykjavik. The competition is to last 6 days.
