Information on Mahammad Asad Bey included into textbooks of Azerbaijani middle schools and universities

The information on Azerbaijani world-famous writer Mahammed Asad bey’s (Kurban Said) life and work were included into the textbooks of middle schools and universities from 2010-2011 educational year, researcher of Mahammed Asad bey, director of Germany-based Nizami Ganjavi Azerbaijan Cultural Institute Nourida Ateschi told APA.

Ateschi said that Azerbaijani education minister Misir Mardanov was first who reacted to the appeal on the immortalization of Mahammed Asad bey’s name, naming a street after him, the hanging of memorial board and his inclusion to the textbooks as the Azerbaijani writer. Mardanov received Ateschi, submitted her textbooks and thanked her for her researches.

The Minister underlined the importance for the pupils at the middle schools to know and learn Asad bey and considered the importance of information about Asad bey and his famous “Ali and Nino” romance in the literature textbook of 11th class. According to the Education Ministry’s order issued on November 24, 2010 the universities’ textbook of history of Azerbaijani literature in the 20th century included large item about Mahammad Asad bey and his novel Ali and Nino.

Mardanov said that the Education Ministry would continue its support for Asad bey’s recognition as a great writer in the world as well as in his motherland.
