Mud volcano erupts in Azerbaijan


The Toraghay mud volcano in Garadagh district, Baku erupted on Thursday morning.

 

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Irada Ibrahimova told APA that there are no residential areas in the vicinity of the volcano, noting that the ministry’s experts are currently examining the eruption and its consequences. 

 

The Toraghay mud volcano belongs to the State Nature Reserve. There have been 10 eruptions so far. The last time the volcano erupted was in 1988.
