The Baku Court of Grave Crimes on Friday resumed the trial of Elchin Gasimov, deputy chairman of the “Muslim Unity” movement, and 11 others—Aghaali Yahyayev, Nahid Gahramanov, Seyfaddin Shirvanov, Farhad Muradov, Ramil Aliyev, Elgun Akhundov, Vusal Alish, Isa Ibrahimov, Seymur Aslanov, Ali Shahbazov and Amirali Aliyev.

During the trial, Vusal Alish and Seymur Aslanov testified, denouncing the testimonies they had given during the preliminary investigation, APA reported.

They said they faced pressure during the investigation. The judge said that the Prosecutor General’s Office will be appealed to in this regard.

The process will be resumed on March 10.

Some of the aforementioned persons are members of the so-called “Muslim Unity” movement. The movement’s chairman, theologian Taleh Baghirov was arrested in an operation in Baku’s Nardaran settlement on Nov.26, 2015. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
