Alexander Lapshin’s mother to testify in court - UPDATED

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes continued the trial in the case of blogger Alexander Lapshin, who is under prison in Azerbaijan.

Witnesses gave testimony at the hearing presided over by judge Alovsat Abbasov, APA reported.

Witness Eyyb Abdulazimov said that he is an internally displaced person from Shusha and he knows Lapshin for his articles in the press: “I have properties in Shusha. These are my native lands. Lapshin went to Karabakh and introduced my native land as an Armenian state. However, these territories are Azerbaijani lands. Armenians occupied my properties in Shusha. No one has the right to violate the Azerbaijani borders. Therefore, I want Lapshin to be punished properly.”

Witness Fakhraddin Safarov testified that he lived in Shusha until it was occupied, and he had many properties there. He said that Lapshin offended all Azerbaijanis. “My great-grandfather was also born in Shusha. These are historic Azerbaijani lands. From press I knew that he wrote anti-Azerbaijan articles. I have fought in Karabakh. Armenians raped a 6-year-old girl there. And Lapshin violates our rights by defending the occupiers and aggressors. Therefore he should admit his guilt”, he said.

The judge mentioned that three more witnesses will testify.
